Virginia Mae (nee Dilley) Mariani, age 76, of Grand Island, formerly of Tonawanda, died Monday, February 10, 2020 at Buffalo General Hospital. Born May 15, 1943 in Buffalo, she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Doris (nee Weimer) Dilley and was a graduate of Niagara University. She had been employed at Bell Aerospace in Wheatfield, Scipar is Williamsville, and then at Sierra Research before retiring. While living in Tonawanda, Ginny had taught and guided the CCD Program at St. Francis of Assisi Parish. After moving to Grand Island 25 years ago, she became a member of St. Stephen Parish, and joined the choir and Bible study at the church. She enjoyed teaching piano and crafting special religious bookmarks.
She was the wife of 56 years to Frank J. Mariani, whom she married on September 7, 1963; mother of Mark (Mary Jo) Mariani of Clarence, Teresa (Robert) Donohue of Arcade, and Julie Mistriner of Grand Island; grandmother of Sarah, Rebecca, Robert, Taylor, Sabrina, and Marissa; and sister of Steven (Patricia) Dilley of Minnesota and Cynthia (Frank) Casillo of West Seneca. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call from 4-8 PM on Thursday only at the HAMP FUNERAL HOME, Inc., 37 Adam Street at Seymour, Tonawanda. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 AM Saturday at St. Stephen R.C. Church, 2100 Baseline Road, Grand Island. Friends invited. Inurnment will be cared for privately in St. Stephen's Cemetery Columbarium. If desired, memorials to St. Stephen School, 2080 Baseline Road, Grand Island, NY 14072, are preferred by the family.
