Obituary

LaVerne (nee Partsch) Beckett, age 78, of Tonawanda, died Friday, April 3, 2020 at the VA Nursing Home in Batavia. Born April 1, 1942 in Conemaugh Township, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Mary (nee Eckenrod) Partsch. A Navy Veteran of the Vietnam War, LaVerne was a member and past commander (for 3 terms) at the American Legion Post No. 1451 on Ward Road in Wheatfield. She was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Parish in Tonawanda. LaVerne had been an active volunteer with the Boy Scouts of America, and more recently at the VA Clinic at Hertel & Main Streets in Buffalo.

She was the wife of the late John J. Beckett, who died July 21, 2004; mother of Steven (Jennifer) Beckett, John Beckett, Robert Beckett, Douglas (Janine) Beckett, Michael (Donna) Clifton, Nathan Clifton, Sandy (Randy) Lehman, the late Michelle Schultz, and the late Penny Durow; sister of Charles (Judy) Partsch, Sr. Dolores Partsch, SSJ, Charlotte Stramanak, Janet Walyko, and the late Robert Partsch, late Terrence Partsch, and the late Sr. Eileen Scott, SSJ; and mother-in-law of Raymond Schultz. Also surviving are many, many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

There is no visitation. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at at time to be annnounced at St. Francis Chapel, 71 Adam Street, Tonawanda. Inurnment at St. Francis Chapel Columbarium. If desired, memorials to the Sisters of St. Joseph, 1020 West State Street, Baden, PA 15005, are preferred by the family.
