Obituary

Catherine (nee Eberwein) Winters, age 89, of Tonawanda, died Sunday, May 10, 2020 at Elderwood at Williamsville Skilled Nursing Facility. Born March 14, 1931 in Tonawanda, she was the daughter of the late Ferdinand and Catherine (nee Schinaman) Eberwein and was a lifelong resident of Tonawanda. Catherine was a graduate of Deaconess School of Nursing and had been a registered nurse at DeGraff Memorial Hospital in North Tonawanda before retiring.

She was the wife of the late Richard A. Winters, who died December 13, 1978; mother of Cathy (Clinton) Hance of Wolcott, New York, the late Scott A. Winters, who died March 3, 2011, and the late Mark R. Winters, who died December 28, 2013; mother-in-law of Judy Winters; grandmother of Nathan (Stephanie) Hance, Nicole (Nathan) Hance-O'Connor, Samuel Hance, Clinton (Laura) Winters, and Sarah (Phil) Hankinson; great-grandmother of Syrna, Jasper, Charlotte, Archie, Trevor, James, and Alaric; and sister of Joan Russell and the late Fritz Eberwein. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her longtime companion, William Shepherd.

Services were cared for privately with the family. Interment will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Town of Tonawanda, at a future date. If desired, memorials to the Wounded Warrior Project, PO Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675, are preferred by the family.
