Pearl (nee Hedrich) Steiger, age 91, of North Tonawanda, died Thursday, December 20, 2018 at her residence under the care of her family and Niagara Hospice. Born February 21, 1927 in Tonawanda, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Viola (nee Krieman) Hedrich and had been a resident of North Tonawanda for more than 35 years. Mrs. Steiger was a founder and past president of the Garden Club of the Tonawandas, a life member of the Federated Garden Clubs of New York State, and a member of the Twin Cities Quilter's Guild (Pink Ribbon Committee). She loved music and was an avid lifelong piano player.
She was the beloved wife of the late Donald G. Steiger, who died May 19, 1999; dearest mother of Holly Steiger of Wheatfield, Cheryl Heyden of North Tonawanda, Laurie (Raymond) Loos of Elizabethtown, Kentucky, Patricia Steiger of Wheatfield, Barbara (Steve) Reid of Ft. Wayne, Indiana, and Maureen (Craig) Boeheim of Cheektowaga; and sister of the late Charles L. Hedrich, Dolores Gordon, Eileen Fitzner, and David R. Hedrich. Also surviving are 10 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call from 2-5 PM on Sunday at the HAMP FUNERAL HOME, Inc., 37 Adam Street at Seymour, Tonawanda, where Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 AM Monday; the Rev. Jeremy Lopez officiating. Friends invited. Interment at White Chapel Memorial Park, Town of Amherst. If desired, memorials to Niagara Hospice, 4675 Sunset Drive, Lockport, NY 14094, are preferred by the family.
