MaryAnn (nee Grytten) Penberthy, age 89, of Tonawanda, died Wednesday, October 17, 2018. Born September 15, 1929 in Buffalo, she was the daughter of the late Anton and Magnhild (nee Knutsen) Grytten. MaryAnn was a member and former officer of the Sons of Norway Lodge in Buffalo.
She was the wife of the late James F. Penberthy, who died May 15, 2016; mother of Patricia (Patrick) Klinger of Tonawanda, Betty (Charlie) Beuchat of Kenmore, Pamela (Rick) Frasher of Tonawanda, MaryLee (Matt) Pankow of Syracuse, David (Sandy) Penberthy of North Tonawanda, Steven (Laura) Penberthy of Amherst, and Doug (late Peggy) Rose; grandmother of Andrew Klinger, Allie Rose, Lydia Penberthy, Matthew Penberthy, Robert Pankow, Benjamin Frasher, and Madison Beuchat; great-grandmother of Olivia Klinger; and sister of Elinor Schrecongost of Williamsville and Doris Jamietes of Tonawanda. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call from 4-8 PM on Sunday at the HAMP FUNERAL HOME, Inc., 37 Adam Street at Seymour, Tonawanda, where funeral services will be held at 10 AM Monday; the Rev. Michael Uebler officiating. Friends invited. If desired, memorials to St. Francis Parish, 73 Adam Street, Tonawanda, NY 14150, are preferred by the family.
