Stone, Grace M. (nee Runge)
August 31, 2019, age 87, of Tonawanda, went home to be with her Savior. Born in North Tonawanda, Grace was the daughter of the late Alfred and Marguerite (nee Meister) Runge, was a lifelong resident of the Tonawanda area, and a member of the Grove Street Christian Church.
A giving lady with a beautiful smile, she was a friend to all. She had worked at International Paper Co. and while volunteering at the Veterans Hospital library, she met Henry Stone whom she married. For many years she was a stay at home mom, and later became a home health care aide. Her clients enjoyed her friendly and childlike ways. She would sing to them and try to get them to dance. Grace loved working with her hands making cookies, knitting warm blankets and embroidering baby blankets for each of her grandchildren. Her happy and playful nature kept her listening to records, dancing, blowing bubbles, and ringing bells. She loved the color purple, flowers, and her family and friends. Grace had a lifelong pen-pal, Joyce, in England. But most of all she loved her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Grace gave her heart and soul to her church, serving in many capacities, as an Elder, Sunday School Teacher, and singing in the choir.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry S. Stone; a sister Jean Hewitt; brothers, Donald and John Runge; and her step-father, Albert Kieser.
She is survived by two daughters, Pamela (Carlo) Luberti of Georgia, and Shelley (Larry) Pinson of North Carolina; a son Jeffrey Stone of Amherst; a step-brother, Albert Kieser, Jr. of Cheektowaga, a brother-in-law, Ronald Hewitt, of North Tonawanda, and a cousin, Terri Meister McMahan of Texas. Also surviving are 4 grandchildren, Jason (Kayla Johnson), Ryan and Lydia Rojas and John Morgenthaler, and many nieces and nephews.
There will be no visitation. Friends are invited to attend a memorial service at 3 PM Saturday at Grove Street Christian Church, 85 Grove Street, Tonawanda, NY. The Rev. James Girling will officiate. If desired, memorials to Grove Street Christian Church, are preferred by the family.
