Donald F. Coles, age 91, of Tonawanda, died Thursday, April 5, 2018 at his residence. Born July 2, 1926 in Buffalo, he was the son of the late Vincent and Magdelaene (nee Fitzsimmons) Coles and had been a resident of Tonawanda for the greater part of his life. Donald was a Navy Veteran of WWII and served at Gold Beach, Normandy, France on D Day. He was employed at Spaulding Fibre in Tonawanda until retiring.
He was the husband of 69 years of Gloria (nee Clark) Coles; father of Timothy (Robin) Coles of Tonawanda, Dawn (David) Barnas of Tonawanda, and the late David Coles; grandfather of Douglas, Renee, Jacob, James (Stacy), Kristine, and the late Bridgette Coles; great-grandfather of Xander, Wyatt, Kaitlyn, Kelcei, Kyna, and Kalee; and great, great-grandfather of Karissa and Katalina. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call from 2-5 PM on Sunday only at the HAMP FUNERAL HOME, Inc., 37 Adam Street at Seymour, Tonawanda. A burial service with Military Honors will be held at 10 AM Monday at White Chapel Memorial Park, 3210 Niagara Falls Blvd., Amherst. Please assemble just inside the main gate of the cemetery and we will proceed to the grave together. If desired, memorials to the Disabled American Veterans, 130 South Elmwood #620, Buffalo, NY 14202, or to the Wounded Warrior Project, PO Box 758516, Topeka, KS 66675, are preferred by the family.
