Thomas Sliwa, age 62, of Buffalo, died Sunday, January 15, 2017 at Erie County Medical Center after a long illness. Born March 24, 1954 in Buffalo, he was the son of the late Stephen and Frances (nee Bogdan) Sliwa. He had been employed at Johnson Controls at Key Bank Center on Main Street in Buffalo. Thomas was an avid photographer and antique automobile buff and enjoyed listening to 70's music.
He was the brother of Mary Lou (Walter) Szustakowski of Hamburg and Jane (late Anthony) Leone of Tonawanda; and uncle of Brian (Jennifer) Szustakowski of Tonawanda, Cheri (Anthony) Wass of Lakeview, Kevin (Jennifer) Szustakowski of Lakeview, Kristen Leone of Brooklyn, and Angela (Steven) Lanzone of Williamsville. Also surviving are many great nieces and nephews.
There is no visitation. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10 AM Saturday, February 4, 2017, at St. Francis Chapel, 71 Adam Street, Tonawanda; the Rev. Michael Uebler officiating. Friends invited. Inurnment will be cared for privately at St. Stanislaus Cemetery, Cheektowaga. If desired, memorials to the Transitional Care Floor at the Erie County Medical Center, 462 Grider Street, Buffalo, NY 14215, are preferred by the family.
