David T. Deyell, age 78, of the Town of Tonawanda, died Monday, April 9, 2018 at his residence. Born July 5, 1939 in Buffalo, he was the son of the late Arthur and Ruth (nee Yeates) Deyell. He was an Army Veteran of the Vietnam War who served stateside and was employed at Niagara Mohawk for 38 years before retiring. Dave was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Parish in Tonawanda, where he was very active in the Outreach Program; he was a member of the first class of Eucharistic Ministers at St. Francis, helped with Pre Cana Counseling and had been the caretaker for St. Francis Cemetery.
He was the beloved husband of Michele (nee Boutet) Deyell; loving father of Daniel (Kathy) Deyell of Tonawanda, Rachel Deyell of Tonawanda, Andrew (Maria) Deyell of Buffalo, Joanna (John) Eberl of Williamsville, and Margaret Mary (Joseph) Palumbo of Amherst; cherished grandfather of Timothy, Kieran, Brian, Aidan, and Liam Deyell, Christopher Ulm, Lucas and Claire Deyell, Grace and Jack Eberl, and Joseph Palumbo; and dear brother of Kathleen LeFauve, James (Linda) Deyell and Judith Eckle. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call from 4-8 PM on Friday only at the HAMP FUNERAL HOME, Inc., 37 Adam Street at Seymour, Tonawanda. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 AM Saturday at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 150 Broad Street at Clinton Park, Tonawanda; the Rev. Michael Uebler officiating. Military Honors will be offered. Friends invited. Inurnment will be cared for privately in St. Francis Chapel Columbarium. If desired, memorials to the St. Francis Outreach Program, 73 Adam Street, Tonawanda, NY 14150, or to the Hospice Foundation of WNY, PO Box 590, Buffalo, NY 14240, are preferred by the family.
