Allan J. Kuhn, age 87, of Tonawanda, died Friday, August 4, 2017 at DeGraff Skilled Nursing Unit in North Tonawanda, after a brief illness. Born January 30, 1930 in Tonawanda, he was the son of the late Fred F. and Marie (nee Kohler) Kuhn. He was a graduate of Tonawanda High School, SUNY Oneonta, and the University of Buffalo where he earned his Ed.D. degree. Allan was a former teacher in the Ken-Ton Schools, an administrator in the Sweet Home Schools, and an adjunct professor at Daemen and Canisius Colleges. He was a former member of the Buffalo Banjo Band, the Bergholz Blaskapelle and the Tonawanda Clown Band.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Lorraine (nee Matla) Kuhn; his devoted children, Mary Kuhn of Williamsville and Frederick (Anne) Kuhn of Suwanne, Georgia. Allan was the brother of the late Vincent (late Jane) Kuhn, Mary (late Dr. William) Kneer of Williamsville, and Frederick (Marie) Kuhn of Tonawanda. Many caring nieces and nephews also survive.
The family will receive friends after 9:30 AM Wednesday at St. Francis Chapel, 71 Adam Street, Tonawanda, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 AM Wednesday; the Rev. Michael Uebler officiating. Friends invited.
